Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are typically composed of ionizable cationic lipids (ICLs), helper lipids, cholesterol, and polyethylene glycol (PEG) lipids. LNPs have become prominent non-viral carriers for mRNA delivery in clinical applications. By encapsulating mRNA within a lipid core, LNPs protect it from degradation, enhance cellular uptake, and promote cytoplasmic release upon entry into target cells.
